| 'Mystery' even today! Man as a living organism
and around him millions and billions of other
living beings. What was the origin of all these
organisms? What is the aim of the nature? No precise
answer! Every living organism whether it is a
plant or animal, limits its life span within a
cycle of life duration, bound by the law of nature.
It forms from the earth, grows, develops, dies
and finally decays to be recycled with the earth
again. Over the ages, man watching this 'mystic
phenomenon'. He also finds that no two living
organisms look perfectly identical. Definitely
they vary from one another. He is curious to know
and tries to understand this wonderful life dealing
process. This basic curiosity makes him interested
to study about this cycle of life, as a process.
Man's attempts to probe his own beginning invariably
lead him to the fetal life which also raises more
questions on ontogeny, homogeny and comparative
anatomy. Thus, investigations on fetus and fetal
growth have attracted many scientists, raising
further questions.
Man's search for understanding the dynamics of
his own prenatal growth and development has not
ended. A lot more is yet to be achieved to understand
this mystic phenomenon.
Study on human fetus based on qualitative as well
as quantitative analyses does not limit itself
in understanding prenatal growth and development,
rather it holds its application in the areas of
anatomical, anthropological, clinical and forensic
sciences.
